Sometimes I don’t want to get out of bed!

Jun 14, 2018 | A day in my life, Blog

Today I have another rather personal ‘behind the scenes’ blog post to share with you and I am going to reveal something I am NOT so proud of…

I am generally
VERY LAZY!!!

* If you missed the other ‘behind the scenes’ posts
you can read them here and here.

So, without being too harsh, let me just say, I’m NOT a sporty kind of person… (Although I was very good at high jump when I was at junior school BUT that’s only because I am exceptionally tall!)

I LOVE a good lie-in and I often work in bed in the mornings on my laptop until lunch time! BUT I’m NOT talking about the days when it’s simply laziness, or wanting to stay snuggled up in bed when it’s cold, that I am talking about here.

There have been times in my life when I felt tired and swamped, like I was on a giant treadmill and I had no desire to do anything – even things I LOVE, like SEWING!

Kitty’s no help – he just sleeps his life away! 🙂

Can you relate to this?

Endless hours in a boring job, never-ending washing and housework, even deciding what to wear or what to cook feels like a task!? I think they call it “sweating the small stuff?” The small stuff, or should I say UNIMPORTANT stuff, seems to take over and drain my energy and I have ‘nothing’ left over for excitement or joy. Seriously, that is not a way to live!

Looking back I realise…

This usually happens when I have forgotten to take time out
for FUN STUFF!

And I’ve also noticed from experience that when I do make time for myself, the MORE time I seem to have! How is this possible when time itself can’t change… or can it? LOL 😀

It’s kind of MAGIC!

Doing more fun stuff makes me more energised –  and I get more done in less time  – so I have even MORE time for FUN STUFF!

When I am having more fun in my life, I feel more motivated and I get MORE done in LESS time because I’m on a buzz! It seems so much easier to get the “boring stuff” done. I seem to have heaps more energy – even the laundry doesn’t seem to take as long because my I’m thinking of what I’m going to sew next while I peg up the washing!

As simple as it sounds, I realise the only way I will have more joy and fun in my life, is IF I MAKE TIME for it!

If you are already feeling pressured with too much on your plate and you’re wishing you had more hours in your day –  it’s hard to believe that the solution is to do more!

BUT it’s not just doing more of just anything – it’s doing more of the things that “make your heart SING!”

Focusing on something FUN will help you fit more into your days!

As I’ve got older the time seems to whizz by faster and faster BUT when I am sewing, I forget about all the boring day-to-day chores when I focus on the pleasure I get from ‘playing with fabric’, cutting, pinning and sewing, and the hours seem to stretch like elastic (little sewing joke thrown in there!!!).

Over the years of building the Funky Friends Factory I’ve realised how important it is, for my well-being, to focus on something fun. Even if it’s for a few minutes a day, it just puts the sparkle back into my life… and that’s one of the things that I want people to get out of the Sew many Funky Friends Club.

No matter what your day’s been like you can escape for a bit and do something that’s totally fun and relaxing and forget about the daily grind!

SEW MANY FUNKY FRIENDS

Now, if you are ready to extend the hours in your day and dive into a whole lot of SEWING FUN…

Starting December 9th 2018,US EST *
(* That’s Monday in Australia!!!)
WE ARE GETTING TOGETHER TO DO EXACTLY THAT – HAVE FUN SEWING ALONG (TOGETHER) MAKING A SOFT TOY FROM SCRATCH, IN A FREE ONLINE EVENT!

We’re going to be sewing soft toys together, step-by-step, and you’ll be able to watch it all on the internet (that means you can sew in your pajamas if you want to!) How cool is that!

How will all that work? And how do YOU get to participate?

Simple! Keep an eye in your inbox because I’ll be emailing you the link to join us!

So, dear sewing friend, sign up for the newsletter to make sure you are on the email list to receive the magical link! 😀 AND then grab your pins and scissors… ’cause we’re going to have some FUN! 😀

This online event is to celebrate the reopening of the Funky Friends Sewing Club which is opening again soon, for a short period of time, for the next intake of new Club Members. You don’t want to miss the activities coming up!!! 😉

Meanwhile, as we wait for the reopening, I want to hear from you!  Have you had a similar experience?

Have you had times where you’ve lost your energy and motivation? What have you done to bring back the sparkle?
