NEW easy patterns for sewing Kawaii Animal Dolls

Jun 13, 2013 | Blog, NEW Toy Patterns

I’m sooooo excited to show you my newest range of easy soft toy patterns which were inspired by my recent trip to Japan!

I have called this range
Kawaii Kuties…

as these pattens are for toys that all have OVER-SIZED heads and HUGE eyes which gives them a typical kawaii look. IF you’re not sure what kawaii means – it’s the Japanese word for CUTE. A perfect example is ‘Hello Kitty’ but if you think of  bright, colourful, small baby animals that instantly make you go

“Awwwwww –  THAT’s CUTE!”

then you’re on the right track!!! Here are some of the fabulous kawaii fabrics I have used for these easy animal doll patterns!

I was only going to make one kawaii easy toy pattern but I got so excited designing my first kawaii soft toy…

that I ended up making THREE!

kawaii animal doll patterns

So far I have designed

but I am sure there’ll be more as they were so much fun to design and make!!!

These easy patterns make a perfect first sewing project for a beginner because they are QUICK and FUN to make. They will be great for using up your fabric stash and make cute baby toys too! The Kawaii Kuties Patterns include links to get the patterns for the felt DRESS and PANTS so you can have fun dressing up your little animal dolls once you have sewn them!

The simple DRESS PATTERN is made with only

one piece of felt!

The felt PANTS SEWING PATTERN is just as simple and made from ONLY one piece too! I have to say, I think the pants look cutest from behind – haha!

What a sweet little bottom!!!

😀

pants cute back!

I wonder which Kawaii Kutie you’ll want to make first?

I’m not seeing any squirrel love here!! So that gets my vote mainly because I have a whole squirrel thing going on with my BFF which started from the rude Gran skit on Catherine Tate. If you have a high tolerance for swear words, check it out on YouTube!

PS: I love the other two too. 🙂
