Kiri the Kiwi Bird Soft Toy pattern

Nov 2, 2009 | Blog, NEW Toy Patterns

This cute little Kiwi Bird Sewing Pattern is named after the famous New Zealand opera singer Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. I think Kiri’s mum is hoping she’ll sing beautifully when she grows up but so far she can only squawk!

I had fun ‘researching’ these unusual birds and discovered some really interesting facts about Kiwi birds I never knew! They’re rather ODD as far as birds go because they cannot fly! (they have wings but they are tiny and useless), they are about the size of a chicken but their eggs are 6 times bigger, and they have nostrils at the end of their beaks! Pretty weird!

Kiri can be made up in fleece, of any type, stretch fabrics eg. velour, chenille and flannelette. I think she will look awesome all sorts of colours so don’t just stick to brown!

The Kiri the Kiwi pattern is available now, from the Funky Friends Factory website, as either a download pattern or a printed pattern.

Hope you like her!

.
Happy sewing,
Pauline
