Winner & final roundup for our Halloween SEWING COMPETITION 2021!

Nov 1, 2021 | Blog, Competitions & Giveaways

We had so many wonderful & wacky entries in the Halloween Contest this year! The winner was selected at random from all the entries. Scroll down to the end of this post to see if you won!

But first ~> a final roundup
of some entry highlights…

Abby Garrison dressed up Digger Dachshund in this gorgeous autumn plaid and a fun Halloween doggie print.

Joanna  Ford not only made up 3 Batty Bats, she took them outside for a daytime flight! Joanna posted a video of her bats twirling happily in the breeze, so go check it out if you’re in our Pattern Fan Club Group on Facebook.

Kim Illarietti lives in an area where door-knocking Trick-or-Treating is discouraged this year, so to help make things more fun, she sewed this “Bucket of Boos” to sit on her porch for kids to take. The ghosts all have embroidered faces and some glow in the dark. You’re a generous Funky Friend, Kim!

AND 25 Boo Ghosts!!!!
I think this may be a record?!

Tasha Gammelseter’s daughter committed to making 25 ghosts for a class party… without telling her mom! The mom and kid team divided up sewing tasks and got them all finished in a week!!

Next up we have a very creative entry: a sweet baby Gregory Gorilla in Halloween stripes and plaids, as sewn by Maria E. Barnes

Timmy T-rex has become “Frankenrex” in this amazing entry by Rebecca Karstad. I love all the tiny details in his “costume” and the fun textures, including that tiny fluff of faux fur hair!

Here’s a super fun collaboration between Jo Tracy Tsep and her 3-year-old. First, Jo shrunk down the Love Monster Pattern to a teeny 25 percent (he works well for this, as his pieces are simple). Next, she sewed up her monster in Halloween fabrics and added a felt pumpkin to his tummy. Finally, Jo’s design consultant insisted this monster needed 3 eyes, and that the third one must be purple. It’s always good to have a partner in creativity!

These happy Halloween treats were sewn by Jane Lindsay who used the Mix & Match Monsters Pattern to whip up a Halloween softie for EACH of her grand kids to keep after their Party!

And this Mix and Match Monster by Paula Blevins is a hoot with his orange craft eyes and faux fur toupee!!!!

Jessica Weakley Brown dressed up as a Disney character (who has a pet snake) for Halloween and used Scrap Snake as the finishing touch on her costume. I love this creativity!

What a cute Halloween fabric version of Patch Pussycat – it’s not scary, just cute, by Lauren Hodgson-King. I love the purple nose! 💜

This black Patch Pussycat was sewn by Paula Blevins – she’s ready to blend into the night…

AND now…

It’s time to announce the WINNER!

Lindsay Dickason and her black cat, made from the Patch Pussycat Pattern. Patch was by far the most popular pattern for contest entries, and orange craft eyes made a big showing this year, too! Lindsay’s snuggly cat looks great with a pink nose and that fun candy corn bow.

CONGRATS Lindsay! You win
a Funky Friends Factory Gift Voucher
valued at $50!!!

I love all the adorable and spooky animals, monsters. I sort of found your Funky Friends Factory in the end of September. But there’s next year right? Thank you Pauline for the free course on making soft toys and and the 2 free patterns. Plus you have given very good information on: Materials to use, patterns, Stuffings, and how to assemble pattern pieces. I love it. And I love getting your emails. Looking forward to see what you did on the wolf pattern.
