This month our Funky Friends Factory Patterns Fan Club on Facebook topped 13,000 members, so I decided to celebrate by giving away prizes to 13 lucky Fan Club Members! I asked our group members to submit a pic featuring a Funky Friends Factory toy and the maker (themselves), OR a gift recipient OR a pet. So we’ve got fun pics of adults, kids, dogs and cats!

Larry Lion sewn by Laura Oppelt certainly delights this baby. Larry Lion is a popular baby shower gift, especially to match a handmade quilt or bedding with lions on it, as you can see here.

Adults love getting Funky Friends as gifts, too! Jackie Wooding sewed a fluffy Harmony Highland Cow for her (very happy!) daughter. Harmony comes with instructions for adding felt flowers to the toy, and Jackie added a cow bell on a ribbon as an extra accessory.

Bev Westwood used this baby’s clothes to see Fifi Fox as a memory toy. The new fox owner looks happy to meet his new life-long friend. What an adorable photo.

Sara Summers Cruce Walston sewed this Melody Memory Bear for her daughter. The Melody bear is made from neck ties and is wearing a small tie of his own. What a cute extra touch!

This adorable Ben the BEGINNER Bear was sewn by Jane Tate for this sweet little lady. The bear is a keepsake toy made from baby clothes, and Ben is a great pattern for this because he has a no-seam tummy to accommodate onesie designs.

Mary Callahan sewed Butch Bulldog for a very happy bulldog fan! Lots of adults love receiving Butch as a present because so many sports teams have a bulldog for a mascot. The Butch Bulldog pattern can also be sewn as a French bulldog using the included pattern pieces and instructions.

This Raff Giraffe was sewn by Christina Wilson Mejer for her new grandson. Christina used baby-safe eyes so Raff can take a nap with his new owner.

Next, let’s Meet Some Makers…

Robin McColley sewed Harmony Highland Cow and used felt for the forelock. For anyone not used to creating with fake fur, felt is much easier to sew and find in stores. Felt or fake fur make equally cute Highland cattle!

Alice Legendre Frank sewed her first Ben the BEGINNER Bear with solid cotton and a colorful contrast fabric for the no-seam tummy.

Stu Sea Turtle, sewn by Kelli Bordignon, looks great here sewn in two fabric patterns of contrasting sizes. You can often use a low-volume (small print) fabric instead of a solid fabric when making a toy. Low-volume prints add visual interest without looking too busy.

Joanna Astbury sewed Larry Lion from a collection of neck ties. A single neck tie actually provides quite a bit more fabric than you’d expect once it is unfolded.

I love this fun pic entered by Laura Peters Cartoscelli of Kip Keepsake Dog sitting with her real doggy! This Kip is made as a baby clothes keepsake. Lots of people also make Kip as a pet keepsake using dog clothes. Laura’s dog looks fashionable enough to merit their own keepsake toy.
