Harmony Art – organic fabric Dinosaur Giveaway!

Jan 16, 2012 | A day in my life, Blog, Competitions & Giveaways

We’re already half way through January, so I thought I’d better be quick with my 2012 New Year Giveaway! This year I’m teaming up with Harmony of
Harmony Art Organic Design for an

HArmony Art organic fabric toy

This is Timmy T-Rex made in Chili Pepper Red organic flannel and Space Cowboy Red/Green organic cotton sateen.

T-Rex Spike

If you have made T-Rex before, you will see he has an EXTRA added row of spikes in the Space Cowboy fabric. I think I will have to add this to the pattern now as he looks so cute

BUT for now you can get the Spike Pattern Piece and Instructions HERE!

When most people think of organic fabrics they think of natural tones and washed out colours BUT Harmony’s fabrics are bright and bold and it’s great to have such bright fun colours to choose from in an organic fabric range!

The organic flannel is probably a little bit thicker than I would recommend for sewing Timmy. The hardest part was sewing his FACE PIECES to the JAW PIECES along the squiggly seam! BUT Harmony was able to let me know which thinner fabrics in her range would be better and so I’d stick with these for making Timmy – she recommends Scarlet Sateen or Lime Green Sateen.

I think he looks absolutely fantastic in Harmony’s fabric!!!

AND, it’s also great to know that not only do Harmony Art fabrics LOOK good…

they ARE good!

The entire range of Harmony Art fabrics are made of base fibers that are certified organic and those that are produced in India, are also Fair trade certified. ALL dyes and pigments used must meet stringent toxicity screening and biodegradability standards and are screened to prevent hazardous inputs from being used. It’s clear that when Harmony says, “we can rest assured that the people and the planet are being treated with respect.”, she really means it!

Happy Sewing,

  1. Chowie Tang

I think Ellie the elephant would be super cute with Sweet Jane as the main fabric, and solid white as the trunks…

I love your patterns! I’m still very new to sewing but I’m dying to try Larry the Lion pattern!

  2. Tori Ainsworth

First I would like to say that I love your patterns 🙂
Secondly I think that I would like to make the Tilly the Tortoise pattern with the shell in eyes of the world fabric, with the underside of the feet in solid lime green and the body in solid natural. Hope you like it 🙂

  3. Amanda

loving timmy t-rex, i would love to see Heather Hippo in sweet jane and morning dew :o)

  4. Karen Neville

I think Heather the Hippo would look fantastic in Fields of Honey – either colourway, though I really like the honey colored one.

  5. Michelle Zoetemeyer

Why, Prince Charming in “eyes of the world”…just perfect!

  6. Kathryn

I think Raff the Giraffe would look fantastic in morning dew (it’s blue with yellow spots!) with vein (again a light blue colour) as the hooves!! Think I’ll have to try it out myself!!
What a great range of fabrics!! 🙂
    — Kate

  7. Emily Nelson

I can’t decide which of these two I would make first- they would both be super cute
    1. Chrissy Camel in Eyes of the world and lime green in her ears and feet
    2. Heather Hippo in Stumps Speak- i think because she has no visible mouth this would be a lovely way for her to express herself 🙂

  8. Kathy Cartwright

all friends would look fab in any of these gorgeous fabrics…but i’d like to see Lambkin Lamb in Surrender with Chilli Pepper Red for feet + natural for inside ears….also wouldn’t mind seeing Patty the cow in Gracelands (black&white from designs in development)with moonless night black for feet and natural for nose + horns.

  9. Deanna Currie

I think turtle would look great in green organic cotton twill with a co-orniate solid green.

  10. Taronna

I’d like to see the Evelyn print on Sammy the Shark. Then you can change his name to Sophisticated Sammy the Shark 😉

  11. Kelli B.

I think Heather Hippo would look so cute in Vein fabric! 🙂

  12. Brittany

I think Ellie the Elephant in Vein and Silent Stumps would look adorable!

  13. Megan Mann

Tilly Totoise would look great with a shell in ‘Eyes of the World’ fabric, and body in matching lime green solid fabric.

  14. Iris Osorio Schwarz

I think Frog prince Charming would look good with eyes of the world (top) and lime green on the bottom.

  15. Sarah

Chrissy Camel would look great in 10 Flowers with scarlet feet 🙂

  16. Tracy F

I think Dilby Duckling would look great with the overall cloth pattern ’39’ and the coordinating orange solid for his bill and feet!

  17. Mary HEckman

I liked the Solstice and think it would be a good fabric for the turtle with some matching green. I made your monkey for a baby shower, and it was such a good hit. Love the pattern, easy to make. I made four and gave to the youngest attending the shower. They loved them.

  18. Alicia Phillips

Stu the sea turtle: Shell made with “Eyes of the world”, Legs made with “Lime Green” and the under belly made with “Aqua”.

    Alicia 😉

  19. Lizette Jordaan

I think Gertie the Gecko in Eyes of the World with a Lime Green bottom part and dots will look stunning.

  20. Terri james

I think Dizzy Dolphin would look adorable made up in the morning dew with the blue fins 😉

  21. Kelley

Sammy the shark would look great in morning dew and aqua.

  22. therise

I’d like to see ‘Ellie Elephant’ in the blue ‘whisper grass’,
with ‘vein’ for the inside of the ears, and ‘pale aqua’ for the
bottom of the feet, ‘white’ for tusks.

  23. Polly Sorensen

Eyes of the World and Fields of Homey for the dinosaur . . .
