I have been having such fun designing the details of my dragon toy sewing pattern<\/strong>… and discovering all about the anotomy of a dragon<\/strong> as I do!<\/p>\n

Who would have thought a dragon<\/strong> had so many<\/p>\n

unusual features?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Do Dragons have EARS?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

I actually had to stop and think about THAT!!!!<\/strong> I REALLY didn’t know if those big flappy things<\/strong> were EARS or just FRILLS?<\/p>\n

Be honest… DID YOU? <\/strong>\ud83d\ude42<\/h2>\n

I did some more reseach (Thanks Mr Google!!!) and found THE BEST-EVER diagram showing the anatomy of a dragon<\/strong>– Hooray!<\/p>\n

This fabulous drawing is by the incredibly talented artist Eugene Arenhaus<\/strong><\/a>. This is ONLY a sneak peek of part of his original artwork BUT you can see the original drawing and ALL his artwork on his website<\/a><\/strong> – it’s awesome!<\/p>\n

Well, let’s see, <\/strong><\/h2>\n

For starters, dragons need lots of spikes<\/strong>… so I added some back spikes<\/strong>… BUT how to make them look dragon-ish, and not simply crocodile-ish?<\/p>\n

I tried a few different shapes…<\/p>\n

\"dragonMmmmm, I think that looks dragon-ish!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

NEXT I had to figure out what the tip of the tail<\/strong> should look like. Should it just end in a sharp point?<\/p>\n

Nah, I thought I’d try a tail with a TAIL SPIKE!!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Aaaah, that’s MUCH BETTER …<\/p>\n

BUT then I had to figure out HOW TO ATTACH it! Ha!ha!\u00a0 : )<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"dragonThat looks OK! : )<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ooh, wings! What about dragon WINGS<\/strong>???<\/p>\n

\"dragon<\/p>\n

What FUN!!!! <\/strong>I loved making these dragon wings<\/strong>!!!<\/p>\n

… and some CLAWS<\/strong>?\u00a0 Dragons need a claws<\/strong>! I think I’ll stick with 3 claws.<\/p>\n

And now, how can I make some cute dragon eyes<\/strong>? They need LOTS of bright colour and cat’s eye pupils of course!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nearly forgot about HORNS<\/strong>???? Do ALL dragons have horns? Well, again Mr Google had the answer and it turns out around 80% of dragons have horns!<\/p>\n

Still, I think my dragon is too little to have horns so I’ve decided to leave them off<\/strong> my dragon toy pattern…<\/p>\n

OK, I’d better get on and finish the toy sewing pattern so you can sew your own baby dragon!<\/p>\n
