I have made this photo tutorial so people who have purchased my T-Rex Dinosaur Sewing Pattern<\/strong> can SEE how to sew a T-Rex toy! (I wanted to explain this so you are not disappointed if you have found this page via a search engine and not from the link in my Timmy T-Rex Sewing Pattern<\/strong>)<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Let’s get started!<\/span><\/h1>\n

STEP 1
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Choose some fabric. Boys and girls love this cuddly dinosaur and he can be made up in all sorts of colours and textures.<\/p>\n

HEAD:<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

STEP 2<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Sew the JAW PIECES<\/strong><\/span> together from A – B.<\/p>\n

\n

TIP:<\/strong> Clip the seams well especially the really curved parts.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n

STEP 3
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Sew one of the\u00a0FACE PIECE<\/strong><\/span> to the GUSSET PIECE<\/strong><\/span>, from C \u2013 D.<\/p>\n

\n

TIP:<\/strong>\u00a0Sew with the GUSSET PIECE<\/strong><\/span> upwards so you can smooth out any wrinkles that may form as you sew.<\/p>\n

STEP 4<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Sew the other FACE PIECE<\/span> <\/strong>to the GUSSET PIECE<\/span><\/strong>, from C \u2013 D, on the other side.<\/span><\/p>\n

EYES:<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n
\n

STEP 5
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

If you are using craft eyes or buttons for eyes, sew these on now.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\n

TIP:<\/strong> If the toy is for a child under the age of 3 years it is safer to embroider the eyes<\/span> with black thread. Do this later, AFTER you have stuffed the dinosaur. Check out this blog post for more toy safety tips<\/span><\/strong><\/a> and guidelines.<\/p>\n

STEP 6
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Sew the GUSSET & FACE PIECES<\/strong><\/span> to the JAW PIECES<\/strong><\/span> matching point A at the front and Z on each side.<\/p>\n

\n

TIP:<\/strong>\u00a0This is a hard seam to sew so\u00a0 take your time and use LOTS of pins.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n

SPIKE:<\/h2>\n
\n

STEP 7a
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Sew the SPIKE PIECES<\/strong><\/span> together with fabric right sides together.<\/p>\n

STEP 7b
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Trim the seam allowance at the tip of each SPIKE<\/strong><\/span> and clip very well between the SPIKES so they\u00a0will turn nicely.<\/p>\n

STEP 7c
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Turn the SPIKES<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0right sides out and pin the curved edge flat.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

BODY<\/h2>\n
\n

STEP 8a
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Pin the SPIKE PIECES<\/strong><\/span> to one of the BODY PIECES<\/strong><\/span> as shown in green in the SPIKE\u00a0SEWING DIAGRAM<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

STEP 8b
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Sew the SPIKE to the BODY PIECES with a 3mm(\u215binch) seam allowance. (This\u00a0will hold the SPIKE in place when you sew the turning gap closed at the end, so\u00a0don\u2019t leave this important step out!)<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n

STEP 10
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Sew the BODY PIECES<\/strong><\/span> together, sew from E \u2013 (around the tail) \u2013 to F.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\n

TIP:<\/strong> Do not sew the BODY PIECES<\/strong><\/span> closed at the top because you won\u2019t be able to\u00a0attach the head easily later on!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n

TUMMY, ARMS AND LEGS:<\/h2>\n
\n

STEP 11a
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Match the ARM PIECES<\/strong><\/span> and LEG PIECES<\/strong><\/span> to the TUMMY PIECE<\/strong><\/span> using the dots of the\u00a0pattern markings.<\/p>\n

STEP 11b
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Sew\u00a0one side at a time (one ARM PIECE<\/strong><\/span> and one LEG PIECE<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 to the TUMMY PIECE<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n

TIP:\u00a0<\/strong>Don’t forget to clip all of the very curved seams if you are using a woven (non-stretchy) fabric like cotton.<\/p>\n

SIDE SEAMS:<\/h2>\n

STEP 12
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Pin and sew the TUMMY-ARM-LEG PIECES<\/strong><\/span> to the BODY PIECES<\/strong><\/span> in 3 steps, using the\u00a0SIDE SEAM SEWING DIAGRAM<\/strong><\/span> to guide you.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

STEP 13
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

STEP 1:<\/strong><\/span>
\nSew the seam along the top of the ARMS<\/strong><\/span> and the sides, sewing from G \u2013 H.<\/p>\n

STEP 14
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

STEP 2:<\/strong><\/span>
\nSew the seam at the back of the LEGS<\/strong><\/span>, sewing from I \u2013 E on one side and then from\u00a0I \u2013 E on the other side.<\/p>\n

TIP: <\/strong>Sew one side at a time and stop in the middle at E.<\/p>\n

STEP 15
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

STEP 3:<\/strong><\/span>
\nSew the sides of the dinosaur, from under the HANDS<\/strong><\/span> down to the top of the centre\u00a0toe of the FOOT PIECES<\/strong><\/span>. Sew from J \u2013 K.<\/p>\n

FOOT and HAND PIECES:<\/h2>\n

STEP 16
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Pin and sew the FOOT PIECES<\/strong><\/span> to the LEG & BODY PIECES<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

STEP 17a
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Fold the HANDS<\/strong><\/span>, at the fold line pattern markings, with right sides together.<\/p>\n

STEP 17b
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Pin the seams at G and J together, in the centre, to create the 3 \u2018fingers\u2019.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

STEP 17c
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Pin the rest of the ‘fingers’…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

STEP 17d
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

…and sew them closed (between the folded edges.)<\/p>\n

NECK SEAM:<\/h2>\n
\n

STEP 18
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Sew the JAW, FACE & GUSSET PIECE<\/strong><\/span> to the BODY & TUMMY PIECE<\/strong><\/span> at the\u00a0neck seam.<\/p>\n

\n

TIP:<\/strong>I find the easiest way to pin the neck seam is to turn the head right sides out and\u00a0position it \u2018inside\u2019 the body, facing back into the neck, so you can pin and sew the\u00a0pieces with the fabric right sides together.<\/p>\n

STEP 19
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Pull the head back out of the BODY<\/strong><\/span>. Pin and sew the back of the T-Rex closed from from L on the GUSSET PIECE<\/strong><\/span> to M on the\u00a0BODY PIECES<\/strong><\/span>, and remember to leave a gap open at the back.<\/p>\n

STEP 20
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Trim all the pointed seams at the ‘fingers’, ‘toes’ and tail.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

STEP 21
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Turn your dinosaur\u00a0right sides out.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n

STEP 22
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Stuff the tail, \u2018fingers\u2019 and \u2018toes\u2019 first then the ARMS<\/strong><\/span> and LEGS<\/strong><\/span> then fill the rest of\u00a0the BODY<\/strong><\/span> with toy stuffing. Stuff the head and nose area firmly.<\/p>\n

STEP 23
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Use a ladder stitch to close the opening on the T-Rex’s BODY<\/strong><\/span>. (Your hand stitching will be hidden by the SPIKES but try to be as neat as possible!)<\/p>\n
