(I wanted to explain this so you are not disappointed if you have found this page via a search engine and not from the link in my Sammy Shark toy sewing pattern<\/strong>!)<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

OK, let\u2019s get going with the TUTORIAL!<\/span><\/h2>\n

STEP 1
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Choose the fabrics for sewing the shark toy pattern. A shark can be any colour –<\/span><\/p>\n

even PINK!<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

STEP 2<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Sew 2 of the BACK FIN PIECES<\/strong><\/span> together. Turn them right sides out and use a turning tool or a wooden chopstick to make sure the seams are turned out nicely. Repeat for the other 2 BACK FIN\u00a0PIECES<\/strong><\/span>. (You don’t need to stuff the BACK FINS<\/strong><\/span>.)<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 3<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Sew 2 of the FRONT FIN PIECES<\/strong><\/span> together. Turn them right sides out and make sure the seams are turned out nicely. Repeat for the other 2 FRONT<\/strong> FIN\u00a0PIECES<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 4a<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Stuff the FRONT FINS<\/strong><\/span> with toy-stuffing so they are not too fat<\/span> because you need to sew through the toy-stuffing next. Use pins to hold the toy-stuffing in place.<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 4b<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Remove some of the pins so you can sew a line of top-stitches along the dashed line as shown on\u00a0the pattern markings. Snip the threads and put the FINS<\/strong><\/span> aside for later.<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 5<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Sew the BODY PIECES <\/strong><\/span>together from A \u2013 B.<\/span><\/p>\n

CRAFT EYES:<\/span><\/h2>\n

STEP 6<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

If you are using CRAFT EYES – insert them now. (If you are using buttons or felt pieces you will sew them on later.)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

TIP:<\/strong> I like to add a circle of white felt behind craft eyes to make the shark’s eyes stand out against a dark fabric.<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 7<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Pin the FRONT FINS<\/strong><\/span> and BACK FINS<\/strong><\/span> to the BODY PIECES<\/strong><\/span> with the tip of each fin facing the back – using the pattern markings to guide you. (Pin them with the fabric right sides together.)<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 8a<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Match each CHIN PIECE<\/strong><\/span> with a TUMMY PIECE<\/strong><\/span> using the 2 dots of the pattern markings to guide you.<\/span><\/p>\n

* I have marked the 2 dots in red in the photos below.<\/strong><\/p>\n

STEP 8b<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Pin and sew the CHIN PIECES<\/strong><\/span> to the TUMMY PIECES<\/strong><\/span> matching the 2 dots of the pattern markings.<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 9<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Sew the TUMMY-CHIN PIECES<\/strong><\/span> together along the center seams, sewing from D- E.<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 10<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Sew the CHIN \/ TUMMY PIECES<\/strong><\/span> to the BODY PIECES<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0(with the fins \u2018sandwiched\u2019 in between).<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 11<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Sew the TAIL PIECES<\/strong><\/span> together from B \u2013 C.<\/span><\/p>\n

Do NOT sew right around the tail now!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

STEP 12<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Sew the TAIL PIECES<\/strong><\/span> onto the TUMMY & BODY PIECES,<\/strong><\/span> use Sewing Diagram 1 to guide you.<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 13<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Sew around the TAIL PIECES<\/strong><\/span> from C to G and continue to sew onto the TUMMY PIECES<\/span><\/strong> to H, use Sewing Diagram 2 to guide you.<\/span><\/p>\n

*Don\u2019t forget to leave a gap on the TUMMY PIECES<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\nfor turning and stuffing your shark!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

STEP 14<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Turn the shark toy right sides out through the gap you left on the BODY PIECES<\/strong><\/span>. Stuff the shark with toy stuffing. Start by stuffing the thinner bits (like the tips of the TAIL<\/strong><\/span> and the top fin on the BODY PIECES<\/strong><\/span>) with small bits of toy-stuffing to make sure these are firmly stuffed.<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 15<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

If you are using buttons for eyes sew them on now. (I used a small button on top of a bigger button for this shark).<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 16<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Cut the MOUTH <\/strong><\/span>and TEETH PIECES<\/strong><\/span> from felt.<\/span><\/p>\n

TIP:<\/strong> I like to trace my felt pieces with a fabric marker. If you don\u2019t have one ~ check out this blog post for other methods for cutting out felt pieces<\/a><\/span><\/strong> accurately.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 17<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Sew the TEETH PIECES<\/strong><\/span> to the MOUTH PIECE<\/strong><\/span> by sewing machine (or hand!) then hand sew the MOUTH PIECE<\/strong><\/span> onto the CHIN PIECE<\/strong><\/span> about 3cm from the front.<\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 18<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Use 3 strands of embroidery thread to sew long satin stitches for the gills.<\/span><\/p>\n

TIP:<\/strong> Hide your finishing knot under the shark’s fin!<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n

STEP 19<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Use a ladder stitch to close the opening on the tummy.<\/span><\/p>\n
