Homemade soft toys are NOT just for babies!

Feb 5, 2015 | A day in my life, Blog

Most homemade soft toys are sewn for babies, or for children. I should know this because I got into designing my Funky Friends Factory toy patterns when all my friends started having babies! BUT I know lots of people use my soft toy patterns to make toys as gifts for adults as well…

Homemade toys to sew are not just for baby toys

I got a lovely email from Shirls this week who has made lots and lots of Funky Friends soft toys as gifts, for friends and family members, of ALL ages. This funny photo is of her hubby pretending to be bitten by her latest Funky Friend Sammy the Shark!

It’s TOMATO SAUCE, not real blood!

Hi Pauline,
I thought you would like to see my latest creation…..your party animal which I have just finished for a friends 80th birthday party tonight. It’s a ‘no present party’, just stupid, funny cards, so I thought this would be appropriate. Especially with the grey hair!

And NOW…

This got me thinking – I wonder if this is THE oldest person who has received a Funky Friend toy as a gift?

Have you sewn a soft toy for someone OLD.. oops, I should be polite and say OLDER THAN YOU? 😀

I’d love to know!!!!

Till next time,

Happy Sewing,

Pauline

I’ve only ever made your toys for adults! Teachers love them, especially when I make them in calico with contrast prints as signature toys for their class to sign!

Yes, I’ve made a few for my mom, including a grey cat in memory of her beloved old cat who had passed away.
Oh, and I’ve made a few for my older sister, who just really loves cute things. 🙂

I made Ellie elephant for my great aunty Sue who is turning 92 this year. She loves her to bits. Thank you for your simple pattern that has brought us so much joy.

Happy birthday Aunty Sue! It’s wonderful how a homemade toy means so much more than store-bought… because it’s truly from the heart! 😀
